A cookie thought!

Found in a fortune cookie: “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting their battle too.”

Is it the same like saying, “Don’t worry, I’m here for you.“?

    How are you doing, bud? I like that saying so much I copied it and plan to keep it.

    I think what it means is that even if you’re having a bad day, don’t take it out on others because they too are dealing with their own issues. A run of bad luck. A fight with the wife. A stolen car. Depression. Money issues. A son or daughter out of control. You name it, people are dealing with it.

    I had to remind myself of this very thing last night when I was about to scream at a customer service rep on Amazon.com. It was about a shipping screw up that’s been going on for over a week.

    The customer service rep on the phone knew amazon was at fault, so there wasn’t anything she could say. If that wasn’t bad enough, everything on her end was going wrong. Her computer kept freezing up. There was phone static. She couldn’t get her manager to help her. Then we kept interrupting each other because of the relay delay (I think I was talking to someone in another country), and there was also a language problem. I couldn’t understand her and she couldn’t understand me.

    I was livid about the whole situation. And I could see her getting very flustered. She wasn’t rude or anything despite the fact that **I** was.

    Weird thing is, the angrier I got, the worse I felt–for her. I mean, this lady didn’t know me from a hole in the wall. SHE wasn’t the one who screwed my order up. It wasn’t her fault, yet I was taking my anger out on her. I started feeling really guilty, and realized she was only trying to do her job.

    Who knows what kind of issues she had going on in her life. Long story short, every one of us is battling something, so the last thing we need is to add to each other’s burdens.

    I think that’s what the fortune cookie means.

  4. Nice quote, but looks like it means be something else. Maybe it meant, be as kind to all people,as you would want them to be to you, coz they are fighting as tough battles as you are.
